A Few Of Our Recent Accomplishments

JULY 2014 • Newark, Delaware

Corbit Street Area Water Main Replacement

Client: City of Newark, Delaware $700,000

City of Newark is upgrading old water mains and services. The Corbit Street job replaced approximately 4,400 linear feet of 6" water main. In addition to the water main, RCG installed 54 new water services, 5 Fire Hydrants while restoring all excavations and pavement. Some of the work was performed during overnight hours to reduce the disruptions to local traffic. The Ray Street portion of the job, a heavily traveled student walking route, was successfully completed in a timely manner and did not cause any issues to the returning and active students.

Flood Mitigation Improvements Adjacent to Lobdel Canal

Client: Diamond State Port Corporation $242,000

DSPC had existing drainage issues that needed improvement. RCG built an impervious core berm to protect the parking lot from canal flooding. In addition to the new berm, RCG constructed new storm sewer outfall pipe with backflow prevention valves, replaced existing catch basins with new precast catch basins and built a sheet pile wall cap with concrete curbing. Because of tidal flows, the work was limited to times of low tide. A large portion of the storm pipe and catch basin work was performed during overnight hours and early morning hours to coordinate with such tides.
