The City of Newark has been redeveloping and planning the rebuilding of the former Curtis Paper Mills site on Paper Mills Road since early spring. Reybold Group's Construction Development Division won the bid to turn the existing Brownfield site into a park with walking, jogging, and biking trails, access to White Clay Creek, a meadow with native landscaping, and a 15-car parking area.
The opening ceremony was held on October 17th. The park is the first of three planned phases to build a vast network of parkland off Paper Mill Road that will boast additional parking, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge across White Clay Creek, a skate spot, basketball court, wall ball court, playground, picnic pavilion, multi-use turf field, bicycle jump park, and walking and jogging trails.
