In an effort to be environmentally conscious, the DEARNG wanted to improve how they cleaned their machinery. Instead of letting the spoils from the machinery cleaning flow into storm drains and grass areas a sump was created to treat and separate the spoils. Reybold Construction successfully demolished approximately 100,000 square feet of concrete decking and installed a new 100,000 square foot deck with and underground sump, wastewater piping and separating system. The system consisted of a large storm basin fitted with a controlled pump to send the wastewater to a 3,000 gallon oil/water separator for treatment and distribution. The new 100,000 square foot deck was also complete with a hotbox to allow for the use of water and cleaning during winter conditions. Lastly, a swale was created to handle additional storm water runoff.
